Over the past two weeks, I’ve had the incredible opportunity to paint two large-scale murals inside the theater of the Polivalent Center in Miami Platja, Spain. Each mural measures an impressive 6×5 meters (2400×2000 inches), making them some of the largest works I’ve ever created. These murals have been both a challenge and a privilege, and I’m thrilled with the result. The overwhelmingly positive response from the community has been deeply gratifying.
The theme of the murals is the seabed, a subject that resonates deeply with my artistic style. As in my painted guitars, I’ve incorporated intricate designs, drawings, and graphic elements to bring the underwater world to life. These vibrant depictions not only celebrate marine beauty but also draw inspiration from the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—a global initiative established by the United Nations in 2015.
The SDGs comprise 17 objectives aimed at addressing humanity’s most pressing challenges. From eradicating poverty and hunger to promoting gender equality and combating climate change, these goals envision a sustainable and inclusive future for all by 2030. The murals specifically reflect goals like conserving oceans and marine resources and ensuring sustainable water management, tying the seabed theme to this powerful global agenda.
These murals are a call to action—a vivid reminder of the interconnectedness of art, sustainability, and collective responsibility. I hope they inspire viewers to reflect on their role in protecting the planet and fostering a better future for all.
I invite you to visit the Polivalent Center in Miami Platja to see these murals in person and join the conversation about the SDGs. Let’s work together toward a sustainable and beautiful world!
